History of the Hawaiian Steel Guitar - 1999

I began working with Michael and Maryanne Cord in 1991.
Our dream was to take recordings from Territorial Airwaves archives, restore them using newly developed state of the art computer technology, and release them as compact discs, for all Hawaiian music enthusiasts to enjoy and learn from.
We felt that the music must once again be heard, and that the Hawaiian music community would appreciate it.
And we were right!
We next decided to document the history of the Hawaiian steel guitar, partnering with steel guitarist Alan Akaka on the liner and technical notes.
Today, we’ll hear memorable selections from our CD release in 1999, courtesy of the Territorial Airwaves archives.
