Kalama's Quartette

In 1926, three Hawaiian men formed a musical group on the East Coast of the Mainland US.
Maika Hanapi, William Kalama, & Bob Nawahine performed as the Hanapi Trio.
In 1927, Dave Kaleipua Munson joined and they renamed themselves Kalama’s Quartet.
In 1928, a 2nd steel guitarist, Bob Matsu, joined, but the group’s name remained Kalama’s Quatet, because they had already become popular through their early recordings.
Today, we’ll share some of our favorite recordings from recorded legacy of Kalama’s Quartet !
