MERRIE MONARCH 2008 HOUSE BAND! If you love the music of Na Palapalai, you'd love the music shared by this year's house band at the 45th annual Merrie Monarch Hula Festival on Saturday (auana) evening! This band entertained the audience waiting for the final scores, and inspired the participating kumu hula to dance. Keli, Ala, & Ho'omanawanuiikana'auao played and sang beautifully wherever they ventured in Hilo. Harry B. Soria, Jr. caught up with them on Friday (kahiko) morning as they performed as strolling musicians through the Stadium craft fair, inspiring many naughty hula dancers!
